薄型CMOSセンサーによる脳内pHのリアルタイム観察に成功

◎生体に適用可能な薄型CMOSイオンイメージセンサーを開発し、脳内におけるpHの可視化に成功しました。
◎脳内のpHが、視覚刺激に伴ってダイナミックに変化する様子を検出することができました。

脳虚血やてんかんなどの脳病態では、異常なpH(水素イオン濃度)が観察されており、生体の脳内pHを超高解像度で計測することによって、新たな病気の仕組み解明や治療法に結びつく可能性があります。今回、自然科学研究機構 生理学研究所の堀内 浩 特任助教、鍋倉 淳一 所長ならびに豊橋技術科学大学の澤田 和明 教授らは生体への適用が可能な高精細pHイメージングツールを開発しました。脳のpHをリアルタイムに可視化することで、微小環境におけるpHが神経活動に伴ってダイナミックに変化する様子を捉えることに世界で初めて成功しました。今後の病態研究に応用することで、病気のメカニズムの解明が期待されます。

本研究結果は、2020年2月5日(英国時間)に英国科学誌「Nature Communications」で掲載されました。
